Curly hair guide
Curly hair, so beautiful, so much personality, never the same on any given day and always keeping us on our toes (in a good way).
It’s the volume, texture and soft look that I love about curly hair. Curls can definitely be rebellious without the right haircut and product combo, so finding the right stylist is life changing and an absolute must. You need a good cutter preferably a cutting specialist.
Curly hair is naturally more dehydrated than usual because of all that extra movement and texture. Moisture is a must, be careful not to use anything too heavy if you have fine curls. What you need is a good quality shampoo and conditioner. This is a no brainer because you are going to wash and condition your hair anyway. After you have washed it, gently give it a good towel dry so we don’t dilute product. Next step, would be a good quality leave in treatment. This will improve the condition of your hair. Team that up with a styling product, this will give your curls hold, definition and take the fluffy edge away aka help remove that halo of frizz whilst still giving a natural looking finish. Treatments are also amazing for curly hair, especially when getting your hair in tip top shape for the big day. At least 3-6 months out, get an in salon professional treatment with your cut and colour every visit. Ask about what is on offer, and pricing as this can be as quick as spray in at the basins used instead of a normal conditioner but works like a hydration injection resulting in extra shine and softness.
For the curly hair bride or any curly guests having their hair done this is how I would ask you to prepare your hair for styling on the day. Wash it 24-48 hours before the event. Do two shampoos as the first shampoo opens up the hair cuticles and the second one cleanses the scalp and hair. Clean hair helps with longevity, having a canvas that is not overloaded with product or build up is key.
