A BRIDES GUIDE TO ALL THINGS HAIR
When it comes to deciding what hairstyle you would like to wear on your wedding day, you need to consider these points:
Total bridal look from head to toe
What your hair type is (eg. fine, thick, course, straight, curly ect.)
Your colour situation
The first step would be to decide on your dress and overall look. Do you mostly wear your hair tied up or down on a daily and what do you prefer? How do you feel when you usually wear your hair out, does it annoy you or make you feel good? Your hair is one element that must compliment how you look and feel on your big day.
Hair type, do you have fine hair that doesn’t hold curl to well? Is it really thick & frizzy, and do you prefer a smoother more sleek look? Ideally your hairstyle wants to work in well with your natural hair type but what if it does not? You may need hair extensions or hair padding to help support your desired look. All food for thought.
Working with your regular hair colourist three to six months out to ensure you are happy with your desired hair colour is super important. No impromptu colour changes or experiments a week or even a month out. I would suggest your last colour appointment be no longer than three weeks from the big day. This is also a great timeframe in which to get the condition of your hair in tip top shape. Healthy hair promotes natural shine, vibrance and is overall easier to do on the daily. At home treatments include a leave in for every time you wash it. When you have your appointment ask for a professional treatment that is suitable for your hair type and mention your concerns and how your are feeling about the condition of your hair.
My last tip on colour is to try and choose pictures of hair inspiration that are the same or similar colour as your hair. The reason is the same style can look totally different on a brunette to a blonde. When light hits the hair it can create an illusion of more texture and dimension. For example, this happens if there are highlights and or lowlights in the hair compared to a solid block colour.
Anyway, hope this helps you along your journey and if you have any other questions please feel free to reach out for a chat.
